Hi my name is Joel and yesterday my boss told me “if you make another mistake you won’t be able to push to prod…”
Some back story, I graduated with a computer science degree and I’ve been working in tech for about 3 years now. During the last 3 years out of college, I found that a handful of my original goals that motivated me to get a computer science degree were slowly being forgotten.
I speculate the reason is due to the ‘assurance’ that came from job security and guaranteed benefits. And slowly but surely, I became the kind of developer that I didn’t want to become; someone who learns tech to get my manager’s approval…
So to prevent any further damage, I am starting this journey to become a developer who learns solely for me and build things I find interesting. And more importantly, finally get some credit for the effort I put in 🙂
there are 3 goals I hope to accomplish this year:
- Build products that solve a problem
- Learn tech to support these products
- Build systems to make me more productive to be able to build these products.
At the moment, I don’t have have any tangible goals like finish x amount of hours of learning or earn y amount of earnings at the moment. But as the year goes on, I hope to make at least 10 dollars from my efforts and more importantly get closer to becoming a digital nomad.
